Parents often spend a lot of time teaching their children to share. Of course sharing is a wonderful thing to teach them but sometimes there is just something spectacular about having something all your own. Having something made specifically for an individual will make them feel special and loved. When it comes to a child’s bedroom the same concept holds true. They walk into a themed bedroom in which everything in it is filled with something they love which makes their eyes widen in amazement and joy. For that child that loves fairies, our personalized fairy bedding and decor can be that perfect addition that makes their room a haven all their own.Fairy Bedding

We live in a world where we often need an escape from reality. Fairy tales no matter how far-fetched they may seem, provide stories of hope, love, dreams, and happiness. The characters face troubles or fears that may seem unbearable. Princes and Princesses live in castles within enchanted forests and make friends with the wildlife. They fall in love and live happily ever after which is something we all hope we accomplish in life. Fairy tales and the characters in the stories captivate us from an early age and stay in our hearts forever.

Girls of all ages seem to love fairies and it all seems to go back to Tinkerbell. She is the animated, cute but jealous pixie fairy from Disney’s Peter Pan. Although Tinkerbell has made fairies famous and loved by all, fairies were not always so cute and pleasant. According to tales in history and folklore, fairies came in various forms from dwarves, elves, and leprechauns to trolls, gnomes, and changelings. As most of us know from myths and childhood fairy tales these types of fairies were often times scary. Not all fairies from folklore were evil. Some were just wild and were considered to be mischievous.

At the ages of sixteen and ten, two cousins that lived in Cottingly, England took photos to provide proof that fairies were real. There were five photos total and the fairies became known as the Cottingly fairies. The photos raised a lot of interest and debate on whether they were real or not. After the girls grew up and married they admitted that the photos were faked by using cardboard cutouts of fairies from a fairy tale book but insist that the fifth photo is real.

The changeling fairies were the most well-known type of fairy during medieval times. It was believed that if a child was left alone before it was baptized fairies would come along and replace the child with a changeling. They were said to be made of Earth and wood but had a spell cast on them to make them act and look like a human child. The changeling that was left would be ugly and sickly and they would die in just a few years or they would be old and never leave the cradle continuing to eat but never growing.

When our child loses a tooth we tell them to place it under their pillow so the tooth fairy will come. While they sleep the fairy takes the tooth and replaces it with money. The legend of the tooth fairy has been around for a very long time in not only American Culture but in many other cultures as well. Each culture celebrates this milestone differently but one thing is certain, fairies have come to be looked upon as cute and happy creatures that bring joy to old and young alike leaving fairy rings for us to follow.

The term fairy ring also comes from an old folk tale. At one time people believed that mushrooms growing in a circle were a path left by fairies as they danced in circles. These fairy ring mushrooms could be found in a forest and in open grassy areas. Scientifically speaking this is a grass fungus called Marasmius oreades but it is a lot more fun to think these rings are left by cute little fairies happily dancing in circles. Imagine the look on your daughters face when she sees a fairy ring incorporated into her fairy themed bedroom.

Fairy Bedding for Girls

Our fairy bedding designs are a perfect way to help bring that happy smile to your daughters face. They range in age appropriateness from toddler to teenager and even adults will adore the collection. One of the best ways to start is to consider the child’s age and favorite colors. You may decide to show them the different fairy designs and allow them to choose their favorite which may include their favorite colors or something completely out of the box because they are growing and ready for change. Once the colors or perfect fairy bedding has been chosen, use the colors in the bedding as a basic idea for decorating.

Depending on the child’s age you may consider finding books or pictures of fairy settings. Use that as inspiration to paint a mural accordingly on one or two walls and/or the ceiling. For instance, if your child likes a lot of color you could use the colors and images in the chosen fairy bedding to add color to the wall or paint a wooded scene incorporating those colors or complementary colors. You could also incorporate a sky scene on the ceiling that would add to the ambiance of the theme. If the inspiration scene is night time then try a color scheme designer or an interactive color design lab in order to choose the perfect darker color for the ceiling and add lighter color in order to mimic the twinkling stars from the night time sky.

When giving a room a makeover you should first find inspiration, then plan out the colors and objects to incorporate and draw it out on paper before actually applying paint to the walls. Another thing to take into consideration is the type of bedroom furniture that will be used in the fairy themed room. If you are starting with a blank space this is much easier but if the room already has furniture there are things you can do to make it fit more with the theme. Furniture can be sanded and painted which will give it a whole new look and this can save quite a bit of money.

Your ideas are all in hand and it’s time to get started. The possibilities with a project such as this are truly endless, especially with the ability to personalize every aspect of the room. You choose the fairy design for the bedding from our collection of images or it can be personalized even more by uploading your own image. You can choose text styles in order to add your child’s name or a favorite quote which gives it even more meaning as it is a piece created only for them. You may also consider using multiple other fairy images to create fairy wall hangings and make their room a complete fairy wonderland.

If your child loves being creative and imaginative, a fairy themed room will be everything she could dream of and more. Redecorating a bedroom can be done as a surprise or it can be a great family project from beginning to end and letting her help will let her imagination run wild just as some of the fairies in history did. By giving your child a themed and personalized bedroom that is all their own, it is sure to put a smile on their face for years to come and give them very, very sweet dreams.
